Reading Reaction Quality at Support

Not every touch of a level is equal. How to score the quality of a reaction before you trust the zone again.

A zone that “held” last month may be decorative this week. Reaction quality is how price behaves on contact—speed into the level, rejection shape, follow-through, and whether volume or participation supports the story.

Score before you trust

Before reusing a support map, ask: Did buyers defend with decisive closes, or only with long wicks that faded? Was the test the first touch after a clean impulse, or the fifth visit in a grinding range? First tests often carry more information than exhausted repeats.

Keep the scoreboard short

In Foundation Mapping Studio we use a four-point check: approach quality, touch structure, departure, and context from the higher timeframe. If two or more fail, the zone stays on the chart as memory—not as an active plan.
